In addition to Mike and Candi's well deserved Alice Award, there were at least 2 other OBRA connections to award recipients last night.
Sellwood Cycles, which is run by Eric Tonkin won and award, and so did BikeSummer the annual festival which was held in Portland last summer, and I was involved in that.
Good work everyone!
John Beaston <jo-@beaston.com> wrote: At the annual Alice B Toeclips awards dinner for the BTA tonight, Candi and
Mike Murray were awarded an Alice for their contribution to Oregon cycling.
From the award flyer:
"Mike and Candi are the king and queen of Oregon Bicycle Racing Association
(OBRA). OBRA is an organization that has encouraged and/or promoted bicycle
use with 3500+ members in Oregon, Washington, California, and a few other
states. The Murrays are the spark plugs that drive the organization by
providing countless hours of volunteer efforts, donating funds whenever OBRA
has shortages, and helping to establish Oregon as a leader in track, road
and mountain bike, and cyclocross racing. In particular, the annual
Alpenrose Challenge has become a world-class track event drawing Olympic
medallists. When OBRA and the Murrays bring a race into the community,
everyone benefits."
Congrats Candi and Mike!
