Peter Murphy
Where I come from, Florida, they have 50+.
30-35. what the hell is that crap? 30-40. Make it 10 year increments at
least.
Masters A,B, what a bunch of garbage. race 4s. race 3s. use masters as a
warm up, whatever. I feel that if you race masters you should not get a cash
prize. Medals only. Money is only for 1,2,3, and maybe 4s. Before you all
get your panties in a wad. I am 34, and a Cat 4. If I am racing a masters
race or a 4 race I wouldn't expect a cash prize.
You whiners and complainers. Grow up. it's just a HOBBY. oh I only got 14th
when i know i got 12th. Give me a f***ing break. Oh I'm sorry Mr. Ekimov, i
didn't see you outsprint those two guys.
If I catch one of you (or many of you)giving a VOLUNTEER a hard time; i will
(1) ask you when was the last time you volunteered, and (2) tell you to
chill the f*** out. the volunteers are the LIFE BLOOD of our sport. You
should treat them as you would someone you respect. I believe that such
conduct is reprehensible and should be punished. Maybe a two race
suspension, or a revocation of a number will definitely catch some
attention.
Eric, I will also volunteer to be a Bodyguard at the races i attend. I think
it is up to all of us with the level heads after the races to tell the
boneheads to go stretch or hydrate or whatever they need to do calm down.

Masters 30-45 A,B & beginners and Masters 45+ A,B and
beginners would be
okay if it could be supported with appropriate field sizes.
On a related note, I'm not sure why 30-35 year old riders should be
considered Masters in any case, and given the improvements in
training and
maintenance methods over the past 20 years, that might reasonably be
extended to 39. I mean, Lance Armstrong is 30, and millions of other
professional athletes at the peak of their careers are
between 30 and 40 --
doesn't that in itself go to Mike's point about the potential
seriousness
of 'old guy' racing?
I agree with your ideas. Being 49 myself, it seems that 35 is fairly young
to be considered a Master. Maybe a way to keep the fields larger you could
do the normal Cat. 1,2,3 and 3,4,5 plus 2 Masters that start at 40. So you
could do a Masters 40+ 1,2,3 and Masters 40+ 3,4,5.
Just a thought.
