Race calendar

The Oregon Enduro Series organizer decided that it was too expensive to participate with OBRA and he decided to go elsewhere.

Thanks Melanie! But what happen to Park and his Fat Tire Spring Break Super D series? Why happened to racing Sandy Ridge? Post Canyon? We have some great course right here in our back yard. The Oregon Enduro Series is not supported by Obra. Raises questions why? I raced 6 Super D races in 2011, haven't seen a Super D since. I know a lot of other MTBr's out there in the same boat.

Since we are complaining about schedules! Can we see some good old fashion Super D races this year?!? If promotors are listening......Super D! Show up race and leave! I'm a working man I don't have time to waste all weekend with stages and two day events. Super D's!!!!!!! And now back to your regular roadie complaining!

Every revolutionary idea seems to evoke three stages of reaction...
One, it's completely impossible.
Two, it's possible, but it's not worth doing.
Three, I said it was a good idea all along.

I would argue bumping the entire racing calendar back a month.

It seems we race cross during some of the nicest months in the NW when we really should be on the road. Instead, we race road during some on the wettest months.

Speaking as a promoter, the calendar has changed and I think for the better
for road racing. Banana Belt will be in warmer weather climate, YES! Dirty
Circles will be a *flat* road race with shorter distance so if it is a
monsoon, that 50 min to just over an hour won't be so bad. Plus, not a lot
of racers want to be in peak condition in March for a 2-3 hour road race.
Promoters did act. It's just hard to please everyone but this year's
calendar makes more sense.

>From what I understand, racing a Super D is like spending 45 minutes in Pee Wee’s Playhouse. And the drone of early vs late races sounds like an old Monty Python script. Like has been said. Race the ones you want and the numbers will decide when races are offered by promoters. My guess is the races on the calendar get enough participation to continue each year. Then again if the schedule pains you so.....You could become a Bowler / Achiever.

Are you guys kidding? OBRA loves horrible weather road races. Simply
look at the attendance numbers. Good weather races simply can't compete.

Three options:

1. Do the races offered.
2. Don't do the races offered.
3. Promote your own race.

I also agree, but complaining in this forum isn't going to change much.

Promoters are going to continue putting on races when they do as long as we
keep paying to enter. You want to encourage later road season starts?
Patronize races like Banana Belt, which has moved from winter to May this
year; could be something to do with steadily decreasing turnout the past
several years, as people woke up and realized they were racing road bikes
in snowstorms. Continue to patronize late-season road races, because
historically you haven't shown up in numbers after June.

And then DON'T attend the August and early September 'cross races (which
are idiotic and are taking away from prime MTB season). Low attendance will
drive them off (or later in) the calendar.

You're the market. Speak with your wallet.

Actually this is a long running topic. And as most followers of it
already know, I agree.

Every revolutionary idea seems to evoke three stages of reaction...
One, it's completely impossible.
Two, it's possible, but it's not worth doing.
Three, I said it was a good idea all along.

"It seems we race cross during some of the nicest months in the NW when we
really should be on mountain bikes."

Fixed it for you...

Since we're discussing individual race days, why not discuss race calendar?

I would argue bumping the entire racing calendar back a month.

It seems we race cross during some of the nicest months in the NW when we really should be on the road. Instead, we race road during some on the wettest months.
