Hello Obra-Land!
The final details of the inaugural road race of the season are coming
together!
Registration is up on OBRA. Or follow the link below for the race flyer:
http://trailheadracingpdx.wordpress.com/2013/02/05/heiser-farms-grand-island-road-race-series/
Pre-registration is $15 / $40 series pass / $5 each additional race.
Race day is $20 / $50 series / $5 each additional race.
*Please pre-register on OBRA.* Save some money and help out those
wonderful officials!
A few notes about the race:
- We will be charging a *$5 parking fee.* This money will be donated to
the local non-profit, Protect Grand Island (protectgrandisland.com), as a
way of saying "thank you" to the local community.
- If you would like to* race for free, come and volunteer!* If you or a
friend are interested, please contact Leanne (marinace@me.com). We need
people for course marshalls, drivers, set-up/tear-down and registration.
- Heiser farms is allowing us to use the farm store for registration and
preparation. There is a covered overhang around the building and it will
be heated inside. There will also be plenty of room to set up tents and
trainers.
- You read the flyer correctly, Cat 1/2/3 M/W will have a series *CASH *purse.
$5 from each 1/2/3 race entry goes in and pays out 5 deep. Just one
purse, meaning equal payout for men and women. There will be daily top 3
prizes for all categories.
- Not all categories are included. *This race is about racing* for
racing's sake, and cash and coffee, of course. So to do this, we're only
including the largest groups of racers and trying to keep it simple.
- And last for now, *the course is fun.* Twisty, bumpy and picturesque.
Some of the best the Willamette Valley has to offer. There is a small
stretch of gravel, about 50 meters with some potholes, and each lap has
about 1 mile of smooth, 2 lane pavement to collect yourself before diving
back into the single lane chip seal. The course is for road bikes but
bring some comfortable tires.
That's all I have for now. I'll keep up with regular updates up to the race
day so stay tuned!
