Subject: [OBRA Chat] ENDURO

There was some talk on the list awhile back about the lack of Enduro racing
around the NW and even some question as to “what is enduro?”.

If you are interested in knowing more check out the latest DIRT RAG
magazine (#168). It has two well written articles that will provide you
with information. One is more about the evolving animal called Enduro,
including the fact it is being conducted in a UCI free environment (in Europe
and North America)! Real top notch Series are in Place.
The other is written by Adam Craig. It describes his adventures doing
the Trans-Provence Enduro in France. He tells an exceptionally good story
about his adventure with a few other XC names you might recognize as well as
some DH Top Guns. We all know he is a talented guy! He points out
the talent of the French as well. These are well worth the read to help
our understanding of what Enduo is becoming.
On a personal note. I believe Enduro might be something very good
technical riders who maintain descent fitness could do after they feel
somewhat dropped from the elite level of XC. It sounds way out of my
dreams/ skills. I do not like to fall down. But in all honesty, I
have seen some very good local riders who could probably enjoy themselves a
great deal taking on an Enduro. You know who you are or your buddies who
could rock an Enduro.
Thanks for reading and also supporting your local trail building
organizations and race promoters. We all want the same end result...Riding
our bikes.
