Planet X is a new team here in Portland and we’re looking for racers to join
the team.  Our team started last Fall
with a few cross racers and now were focusing on beginner roadies.
 
Planet X does have an Elite road team that was just formed
but we do not just want to focus on elite riders.  We want to open our doors to beginners.
 
When I started racing 5 years ago, I was almost overwhelmed
when I was looking at some of the teams with elite (senior) racers.  I did find a team that was more beginners
oriented, for road we only went up to Cat 3.  This was great, I could train and ride with others that were at my speed
and skill level.  However we did have
some more experienced riders on the team to help out with all of my newbie
questions.  I felt very welcome with how
friendly everyone was.
 
This is what I want to offer to Planet X novice racers.  I want to help welcome racers into the sport
or even help advance some of you that have been racing for a couple of years.
 
So far the Planet X novice team is composed of working
family men.  We love to ride and to race,
but were not all die hard about it.  If
we loose a race, it’s no big deal.  If we
have to take time off the bike due to work or family, it’s no big deal.  But if we do have a podium finish or some great
accomplishment, heck yea!!!
 
We do cover all disciplines of racing, however no track
riders on the team…yet.  Most of us race
road and cx. Most of us are cat 4/5 with 0-4 years of experience.
 
We have a few team events coming up, like a team social, meet
the team ride, and the opening of the new Planet X show room.
