After participating in (at least for a while) the Masters Race and King's
Valley, and hearing about some of the things that caused crashes, I have a
suggestion: Given that experience makes safer racers, why not require
anyone at least one season with 5 to 10 massed start events in Cat 4 or 5
regardless of age before you can move into Master's racing?
T. Field
This one was suggested by someone to help me, but then I heard of all the
horrors of racing in that field. But hey, I have good insurance and I'm
game. What's a few more joint surgeries. If anything would help an
older person racing in that field, it's the experience that not all chances
are worth taking. I want to ride safe and not to be a hazard to others, but
in that circumstance, I'd be definitely riding defensively.
