Dirty Circles Racer Issues

It's time for OBRA to add jersey barriers to standard race equipment. Add them babies between 1K and 200m to go and finish straight centerline announcements will be as unnecessary as snorkels in road races.

I'm only partially kidding.

There were so many racers who jumped the line early and we could not pick you all out so it seemed fair to give everyone a warning. Downside for racers who followed the rules is that you got a warning for following the rules and I am sorry for that. Plus side for you guys is that you can feel good abut how you raced your bike in a fair and safe manner. For those who got a warning and knowingly went over the line you got off lucky today as several different things could have happened beyond your safety being at risk. Next week and the remaining weeks that you will be racing on the road be aware that today was warning and now that you have received one you will not get anymore. If any of you would like to go over the rules or how i interpreted them feel free to email me or call me and we can discuss.

I was in the Masters 4/5. I heard the instructions for both the 4/5's and
the Masters 4/5's, and they were different. I remember noting it at the
time. Specifically, the instructions to the 4/5's were that the officials
were not certain if both lanes would be available at the finish. This was
my first mass start road race, so I figured somehow this would be
communicated to the riders during the race. I wasn't sure how that would
happen, but being a newbie I let it go. The instructions for the Masters
4/5's were very clear that there would not be two lanes at the finish. I
assumed that in the 5 minutes between letting the 4/5's go and us, that
some conclusion had been reached that we would not be allowed to have both
lanes. Given the difference in instructions to the two groups, could that
explain why the 4/5's had more center-line violations than the Masters
4/5's?

Just speculating.

One of the issues I saw yesterday has a racer, spectator, and a volunteer is when Jordan was giving instructions to the racers, there was a lot of chatter in the fields so not everybody could hear his instructions.

i think the problem was twofold:
#1 not everyone heard that we didnt have the full road

#2 the speed on the last lap was not high enough so everyone got bunched up.

pretty typically cat 4/5 finish atmo

maybe dave could waive entry for a big strong (and brave) feller to come in an string it out and keep it safe on the run in?

i dunno. i had fun. yall did a great job. plus it was sunny.

oh i have another idea too. maybe a preem prize in the form of some heavy equipment/bulldozer operator lessons?

Safety is number ONE! A u23 rider died in a race in Europe today with what looks like a centerline violation. Your life is worth more than any bike race,'period. Please be smart and safe.

This is an email to all who raced Dirty Circles and received warnings by your name in results. I am not one to post to normally post to the chat but i feel this subject needs to brought to everyone's attention.

I was the Chief Referee today and am very unhappy with how several fields handled themselves prior to getting to the 200m on the final lap. OBRA has rules in place for fairness and above all your safety.
