Mt. Hood Cycling Classic

Dear NW Cyclist,

Breakaway Promotions it excited to announce a brand new Mt. Bike Short Track Series in the Gorge. The Gorge Short Track Series will run every Thursday night from May 16th to June 13th. Having just come off two successful years of running the U.S. National Short Track Championships in Sun Valley, Idaho we are looking at putting our experience and resources into this project to create a super fun race series that appeals to everyone. The venue is located on Cascade Locks Easy Climb trail system which hosted last year’s OBRA State Short Track Championships put on by promoter extraordinaire Kris Schamp.

If you liked last year’s course you are going to love this year’s. With the May to June time frame soil and trail conditions will be in perfect condition. In addition Breakaway Promotions has partnered with Flow Solutions and the Port of Cascade Locks this past winter to build 50% more single track trails and improve existing ones. We have also customize the trail network to create the ultimate Short Track Courses providing ample double track passing opporunities to make sure the race doesn’t slows down in front of you. All these improvements add up to now having the capacity and inventory to create 5 distinctly different coures for the 5 week series. Some weeks courses will favor the speedsters, others technicians, others accelerators, and so forth. Course maps and detailed discriptions will be releaseed on April 15th.

The series will build to the final race and blowout party on June 13th. Great prizes and cash are up for grabs. Series will run 5 weeks with the top scores from 4 events being added together for the series overall standings. If you are interested in saving time and money get the Series Fast Pass package were you pay for 4 races and get the 5th one free as well as having the opportunity of skipping the registration line completely after the first event and rolling right to the line for your call up. How cool is that!

Easy Climb Trail System is open to the general public and trails have tremendous drainage for year around riding. Feel free to check them out and see the new and exciting work that has been done.
