The funny thing is bike shops get their inventory from the same places online retailers do, the only difference is as a small business we need a slightly larger margin to maintain profit and provide personalized and knowledgeable service instead of just "mega savings!"

If you hate your local bike shop that much, I don't think they will miss your business terribly. Funny how the higher the income a person has the more likely they are to nitpick about prices. So much for opportunity cost...
