Scappoose/Rocky Point Road Update 3-26-2013
The landowners representative would like to extend a personal thank you to
NWTA and its members for respecting the extended closures. Management has
noticed a reduction of call outs and issues, and does appreciate your
efforts to spread the word and maintain a good relationship. As we have
said in the past, it is private land, and your efforts have allowed us to
continue the ability to ride and maintain the best trail system near the
Portland Metro area. Since there are no equivalent trail systems in
Portland for off road cycling, access to this area remains critical. Later
in spring, they are anticipating opening up the South side of the road
including the trails that go downhill to HWY 30. However at the same time,
the North side trails will probably be closed again for additional gravel
rocking and road work. *We will provide timely updates on changes to status
and what is open and closed as we are notified (No changes currently)* Again,
thank you to you and your friends for respecting the closures. NWTA is the
primary advocate for working with local government to allow a similar
experience as Scappoose, within bike riding distance from your house. At
this point, options for riding your bike to a place you can ride your bike,
are limited. If you are interested in change, we need your help and
passion. Join a NWTA committee, join your neighborhood group, get
involved, be part of the change, or be happy driving at least 30 minutes
through traffic to ride your bike. Thank you.NWTA
