Yes, it is normal to seek solace in attention to familiar machinery
during times of duress. Personally I think it's ok but I would urge you
to consider replacing your neighbors.

It's been warm the past couple days so I had the windows of the trailer open when I overheard my neighbors talking. Sounded like they were making plans to attack a group ride or something. These guys are bottom dwellers even by trailer park standards. So I crept outside to get a better listen and sure enough they were talking about a Monday ride that leaves from downtown at lunch. The lawyer ride. I listened closer. They're going roar by the group on their choppers. Maybe run a few of them fagots over. Their words. Not mine. Then throw a box of tacks on the road and haul ass. They went into details so I crept closer and knelt down beside my 2009 Specialized Stumpjumper and noticed the pulleys on the XTR derailleur looked worn and then I remembered I've had trouble shifting into the second to the top cog. Not the top or the third from the top but the second from the top. Most of time it just skips over.
Can worn derailleur pulleys cause this?
