Custom Orthotics Success Story?

Russell, I agree with you concerning Scott Petersen. I have a pair of Petersen footbeds in my Sidi's that began life in my ski boots over 20 years ago. I have a super high arch, and without the footbeds skiing sucked. When I put them in my cycling shoes for the first time, it was like getting a new bike. Much better power transfer and no more hot foot, or sore ankles. Well, that's my story.

You live in Bend, home of the orthotics master, Scott Peterson. I'd recommend giving him a call.

So, I am wondering if anyone has had custom orthotics made, by whom, cost, what your issue was, success, etc. I live in Bend, but would travel for the right practitioner. btw, I have ridden over 200K miles with no problems, until the last year, but then again, I am getting old. Hi All

I got a lot of responses which I will run with. Seems like custom orthotics work for most, but not all, cyclists with problems. thanks for all those who replied. If you want a summary of my responses, I will tell you off-line, because some were not too complimentary and I don't want to publicly criticize anyone with third hand info.

I am considering getting examined for custom orthotics (actually, I think that I need only one). But, a friend had a fitting locally and was not satisfied (he got a complete bike fit).
