The weather is looking on the dry side so far for tonight with temps in
the high 50's and winds from the WSW at 5-8mph. Quite a difference from
last weeks windy and cold rain.
Brian Mitchell of Collins/Specialized and Martin Halland-Bak of Hutches
are tied for the overall in the Cat 3. With Richard Sweet of EWEB
Windpower sitting in 3rd with 32 points.
Daimeon Shanks of McKenzie Cascade Cycling team has a slim 6 point lead
over EWEB Windpowers Rick Hammel. Harry Phinney of CCCP sits in 3rd with
26 points.
The Cat 4/5 race is hot with Lawrence McClung who is without a team
leading John Morley of Stagg Cycles Lucan (Ireland) by 4 points and
Phill Randall of Hutches at 8 points back.
Is the M35+ series wrapped up with the absence of Tim Marcotte from EWEB
Windpower last week. Derrick Bell of CoMotion has a 18 point advantage
and it will take Tim a couple of good showings to overcome that.
Despite missing his start by 45 seconds Eric Selker of EWEB Windpower
was able to hold onto and extend his lead in the M45+ race sitting
nicely at 22 points over his closest competitors Daniel Henderson of
Hutches and Mark Armstrong both tied with 18 points.
Loren Russel of Capital Velo has been the only M55+ rider to this point
and holds the lead with 20 points. As does Greg Justice in the MTB
category.
We have three EWEB Windpower Tandems sitting in the standings, the
Brown/Brown duo and the Olsson/Mitchell duo are tied at 20 points with
Gierga/Gierga sitting close with 18 points. Defiantly a race that is
wide open depending on who makes a showing over the next 2 weeks.
The W3/4 field is lead by Lauren May, with Courtney Thomas of Monta
Vista Velo and Christa Olsson of EWEB Windpower only 2 points behind. If
Olsson opts for the Tandem ride again that will leave it wide open for
Erin Koeing of U of O or Veronica Valda of EWEB Windpower to move up a
couple of places with a good showing tonight. Don't forget about Kori
Kunz of Sorella Forte/Titan whom got messed up last week on the course
and is looking to show her stuff.
The W45+ is pretty close with Siggi Gierga of Portland Running Co at 20
points and Flo Leibowitz of Capital Velo at 18 points. They both have
only made one showing so this race is still wide open to a potential new
comer.
Daimeon Shanks has posted the two fasted times so far at 34:22 and 34:27
(with a flat at 100m to go). With his bike getting stolen and the
weather conditions looking better than what we have seen the past two
weeks will someone be able to topple him.
Remember this series ends next Tuesday so you have tonight and next week
to get into the standings. Then another series will start up in May and
we will see if the folks from April can repeat or if someone can topple
them off the top.
A special thanks needs to go to the Volunteers that have been helping
out.
Thank you to the sponsors of the event, Paul's Bicycle Way of Life,
Hutches Eugene and Wheel Works.
