Respect for your peers

Well said Jordan!

Luckily I am a team leader for a bunch of novice guys and part of the appeal to our team is that we are not gung ho, and that we do it for the fun.  This creates a lot of humor among the teammates.  We train hard, we race hard, but we leave our attitudes at home.

And what do you mean I'm not a professional?  Oh, professional racer, as opposed to professional smart ass :)

Subject: [OBRA Chat] Respect for your peers

Respect, what does that mean to you as a member of OBRA?

Some say respect isnt given but earned and others say you have my respect until you lose it. I think every once in awhile its important to remember why we are out there. Over the last two weeks i have seen and heard more disrespect amongst racers to each other and to officials as well. I remind everyone that this is supposed to fun and we are not professionals.

Last year we lost several officials due to interactions with racers. Being an official is a volunteer position and can be very thank less at times but the bottom line is that we are doing it for the love of the sport. All i ask is the next time you feel like rasing your voice at another racer or official think about it, you could be doing more harm than good.

I am sending this note to our community not to start a 400message thread but to create conversation amongst yourselves.
