Krugers Kermesse: Crit or Cross?

when I did it some years ago, first it was Great fun !!
it was definitely way more of "Road Race" then a cyclocross event.
e.g. paceline, drafting skills are of much higher value in this sort of
race, than say how well you can make an off camber turn, get through some
mud, or jump on and off the bike :)

This is considered a 'dirt' event. So road points will not be accrued

Subject: [OBRA Chat] Krugers Kermesse: Crit or Cross?

So, on the OBRA calendar, Krugers 'Farm Crit' a/k/a 'Kermesse', is
categorized as a Criterium. However, on the event website, the schedule
shows riders grouped into CX categories.

So, my question is, will there be ROAD upgrade points available in this
"criterium", or, as far as points go, is it still a CX race, like it was 2
years ago? Also, will riders indeed be grouped based on their CX cat, or by
their road cat?

Seems a bit silly to call this race as a criterium, just for the fact that
it will turn into a CX race in the opening lap. Anyone who's raced this
knows there is no way for any sort of peloton to exist on this course. That
said, it seems to me like it needs to be one or the other on all fronts. For
instance: If this race is designated a "criterium", as it has been, then
there should be road upgrade points available, and the cats need to be
switched to road, (i.e. Senoir men, 3, 4/5, etc.). If the race isn't going
to offer road upgrade points, and people are going to be grouped based on CX
cat, then the race shouldn't be designated a "criterium", instead it should
just be a stand-alone CX race. If anyone can clear this up, it would be much
appreciated.

Bottom line is that this is an AWESOME race, and none of this affects my
wanting to do it very much, but it would be nice to know what I'm racing
for, and who I will be racing against.
