Hello Everyone,

For those of you who didn't receive the email I sent out this morning, here are a couple updates about the upcoming Kruger's Kermesse Farm Crit (www.portlandracing.com/kermesse), which will take place on Sunday May 19 at Kruger's Farm (on beautiful Sauvie Island).

1) Pre-registration is open!
Pre-register online now and save time and money on race day! We will have an "express lane" at registration for pre-registered riders, so all you have to do on race day is check in, pick up your bib number and you're all set to race. To sweeten the deal, all pre-registered riders will get a start line CALL-UP in the order they've registered. And if you pre-register before next Monday, you will enjoy an extra $5 discount, so get on it today!

2) Race course
The 2013 course will be very similar to the 2011 edition. Go to www.portlandracing.com/kermesse/course.html to view the course map and watch the 2011 course preview video. Last week, I was at the farm and, thanks to the nice weather of the last months, the course is in great shape and all dry. The basic course loop is about 2 mile long and features about 80 ft of elevation gain per lap. The course runs 90% on farm roads with a couple grass sections (along the parking lot). There are no paved sections. All along the course, there will be plenty of room to pass riders. Everything will be 100% rideable and, unlike cyclocross, there won't be any barriers or obstacles where you have to dismount. In a nutshell: the course will be ton of fun for novice racers, seasoned pros, and everyone in between!

3) Bib Numbers
We will use custom bib numbers, so no need to bring OBRA road bibs. Just make sure to budget enough time before your race to get through registration and pick up your number. Like in cross, your bib number will go on the left side.

4) Return of the Kruger's Farm Team Relay!
After all the team relay fun we had at the last Kermesse and at the Short Track Finals, we decided to finish the day at Kruger's Farm with a fun and exciting 30' relay race on a super-compact farm crit course, featuring up to 25 teams of 4 to 10 racers. The entrance fee is $10/team. For more details and to sign up your team, just shoot me an email.

5) Bike/tire choice and mechanical support
While racers will be allowed to race any type of bike, we recommend to ride a bike that can accommodate "beefier" road or cross tires. If you can't decide, feel free to come pre-ride the course the day before the race. We plan to have the course set up on Saturday May 18 by 2pm. And on race day, the awesome crew of Bike N Hike will be present to provide free mechanical support and exceptional customer service (look for the orange Bike N Hike Tent).

6) Kiddie races, live music, yummy food & local, organic ales
Throughout the afternoon and evening, racers and spectators will be able to kick back on the concert lawn, located behind the farm store, right next to the start/finish area. We'll have a live band playing, organic beer on tap, and gourmet food catered by Kruger's Farm Market and their food stands. And as usual, we'll organize a FREE, fun kiddie race for the little ones (start at 11:45am).

7) Enter our free raffle and win a Hopworks Pub Runner bike!
After the team relay, we'll wrap up things with awards (custom medals for the top-3 finishers in each category) and a free raffle among all present racers. Our grand raffle prize this year will be a very cool Hopworks Pub Runner bike, generously donated by our presenting sponsor Bike N Hike. As far as we can tell, this is the perfect bike to get around town this summer (or take on a leisurely stroll around Sauvie Island)!

That's it for now. Looking forward to seeing you at the farm!
~Kris
