Banana Belt comments from an official

First off water bottles (and any other trash). You take them out on the
course with you, there is no dropping them on the ground (though I have been
told if you are at a marshaled corner, this is acceptable). I was the
Master 4/5 official and I saw 4 different people toss their water bottles
into the ditch. This isn't accidentally dropping them, this was tossing it
over people's heads. Had I seen that person, they would have been reported
and most likely DQd. Not all officials will do this, but some (including
me) will let you drop back to their vehicle and drop your trash in it. I'd
much rather that than to have us lose a venue (not just BB, but all venues).
Also, if you're racing in a field and you see somebody littering, take note
of their number. You can drop back to the official, or try and remember it
and report it later. Their actions while not impacting you in the race
you're in, could impact it in the future.

Note from your chief ref Terri Camp: We are all given two numbers, and in
road races they are to be worn, and worn correctly. That included no
folding of the number, and wearing one number on your side, and one on the
bottom of your jersey. One number is for the camera, the other number is
for the official in the car to be able to see.

If you have any questions on any of this, feel free to ask any of the
officials, we are all here to help you.
