FISCHER,JAMES (HP-Corvallis,ex1)
With the Spring Thaw on tap for this weekend, I wanted to send out a
reminder to the mountain bike crowd (the road crowd seems to already know
this rule).
Once registration opens, through the completion of the awards ceremony, wear
your helmet anytime your bike is under your butt. This includes warm up,
riding to registration, hopping around on each other's car hood, doin'
wheelies through the parking lot, riding to awards, etc.
There will be six officials at the Thaw this weekend in case you forget and
need to be reminded.
You will be warned once and your number will be recorded. If it happens
again, you will be disqualified from the event..even after you finish and
are riding around during awards without your helmet, for example.
This is a big hitter when it comes to insurance claims, so let's do our part
to keep the events as safe as possible.
Also, please do not modify your number plate by applying stickers over, or
cutting off the sponsor logos. Do not cut out the holes in the numerals.
It makes the plates hard to read at the finish area and it won't make you
perceptibly faster. If you need to trim the sides of the plate to clear
cables and such, do so but allow 1/2" of background around the numerals so
they are easy to read. If you've already given your plate a clean shave,
buy a new one for $5 and nobody will tell Guido, the sponsor gorilla.
Any questions?
Have a great weekend!
