Reviewing some rules for PIR and Circuit Races

How dare those 4/5's ride into the back of the 1/2/3's!  Don't they know they are supposed to let those faster racers stay in front?  (groan)

That's why I like ultra racing.  If you are cyclist enough to pass the fast guy, pass him.  If the fast guy doesn't want you to pass and he's cyclist enough, he rides faster and drops you.  Ride by your own effort only, no drafting.

I think the 4/5 race coming into the back of the 1/2/3 race last night was unfortunate as it coincided with the bell lap for the 4/5's which caused a lot of confusion and misunderstanding from both sets of racers.
A set of 6 or so racers from the 4/5's ( PDX Devo team etc) took off along the left hand side of the 1/2/3 field , which they in turn chased thinking it was their own field, effectively blocking a chase from the rest of the 4/5 field and causing a sprint for the 4/5's group as the 1/2/3's began their next lap which could have been safer had the groups not crossed the finish line simultaneously.

I know officials are looking at the timing of the groups hopefully we will get less of this ( its going to happen occasionally).

And as to the guy using his phone during the race!!!!!!

...And they would've gotten away with it, too, if it hadn't been for you
meddling adults...!

Rules to Remember

1) You may not race or join a group that you did not start with

2) If you are down a lap you cannot interfere with the Hot Spots of the
finish of your group. This pertains to riders who have been dropped and
rejoined and riders who start late.

3) Taking your hands off the bars for any reason is not allowed
(includes waving to people on the sidelines, talking on your cell phone and
touching other riders)

4) If your field is neutralized on the bell lap stay neutral and roll
through the line and your field will be given another lap

5) Neutralizing means 15mph and the entire field should be close
together not strung out single file

15.1.3 Field passing

Should a field catch another field of racers that started separately

the slower field will slow and ride at

a neutral speed as soon as practical after they are caught by the

faster field or its lead car to allow the faster field to pass. They

will then continue to ride at a neutral slowed pace until the faster

field is 300 meters ahead or until they are released by an official

attending their race. The field being passed will stay to the far right

of the road allowing room for the passing field unless instructed by

an official otherwise
