Hello everyone,
I'd like to share a couple last minute updates about the course and course conditions at Kruger's Farm.
The 2013 course will be very similar to the 2011 course, but about 25% shorter (1.5 mi). Last Wednesday, after scouting the course with our Chief Referee Brian List, we made the decision to reverse the direction of the course and have all races run clockwise, which should make for a better flow (climbing on the road, descending on grass) and less sketchy cornering. The starts will be staged at the far end of the concert lawn (close to registration) and the finish will be on the road at the NW side of the parking lot.

As far as course conditions goes, this afternoon I was out at the farm and rode a couple laps. Despite some showers in the past days and earlier in the day, the course was totally dry, with only one or two smaller puddles (which you can easily detour around) on the whole course! While the course is rideable on road tires (I rode it on 25c tires), I still think that cyclocross tires (or MTB tires) are the weapon of choice on this course. For one, there are some sections/corners with loose gravel and sand, and second, if we get sprinkles on Sunday, some of the grassy sections might become a bit slippery for road tires. Of course, you are free to ride what you want and if you want to play safe, you can always come and pre-ride tomorrow afternoon. We'll have most of the course set up by 2pm.
