Fellow MTB Cat 2's

All three of you are right. But the most important thing in my opinion is
the "respect" aspect. We could discuss all sorts of details about what a
rider is or is not doing, skill levels etc. BUT........If all riders
respect other riders (even if slower, wobbly, being a jerk or whatever),
they will be patient, make better decisions and thus more efficient at
passing. In general cussing should be reserved for oneself (when you screw
up) and best when others are not around. Even though I enjoy a good cuss
fest now and then (makes me feel immature), I assume someone will be
offended. Respect other riders people. Even though you are the fastest Cat
2 racer within 50' of yourself, your race is no more important than the
rider you are overtaking.
Grow freaking up! Them they are doing well when you go by instead of
belittling them.

The difference is that the 1s know they are fast, the sloppy seconds just
think they are fast.

Dear Fellow Cat 2 mountain bike guys

Please do not ride like jerks. I received some complaints about your
behavior at some races- and personally observed it at Stampede.

I received a couple notes saying that the Pro/1 racers were courteous
and polite when they caught and passed some of the beginners.

On the other hand some of the Cat 2's were complete jerks- running
over and forcing some of the beginners off of the course. Not a
pleasant experience for them and not a good way to keep them coming to
races.

In fact one of the beginners said they were "never going to race
again" because of the poor experience.

As for the personal observation- I was taking pictures at one of the
rock garden areas and some of the guys toward the front were swearing
at each other "get the !@$@# out of the way" etc. when someone
bobbled. Interestingly enough the guys toward the back were saying
"sorry", "excuse me" and generally being very good to each other.

We in OBRA pride ourselves in being good members of the racing
community. Please race courteously so that everyone can have a good
time.
