On the insurance topic one important note for all cyclists: you should have LOTS of uninsured/underinsured coverage on your auto policy (if you have an auto policy). By far the biggest risk of loss we face is being hit by a negligent driver. If you are hit by someone with no or little insurance, your own UM/UIM coverage could make a huge difference for you or your family. It is surprisingly cheap.
