Hey
4pm today Pre reg closes and we do have Day of reg on site Saturday between
9am and 10:30 including packet pickup at the Alsea Falls Recreation area.
Please remember these things when coming Saturday
40 minutes from Corvallis or 50 from Eugene and the road is curvy as you
take Alpine RD (Off of HWY 99) to Alpine and continue on until it merges
with South Fork RD and the BLM (signs will be placed at a few key places
along the way.
This road is a bit curvy and the speed limit is 35 for a reason...Narrow
smooth rd with Blind corners
The Course (OBRA XC Champs) and Series Race # 8
Racing for Series category and OBRA CAT (Elite, Cat 1, Cat 2, Cat 3 Clydes
and SS) along with 10 year womens age groups and 5 years for the men past
age 30
10-12,13-14,15-16,17-18, 19-29,30-34,35-39,40-44,45-49,50-54,55-59,60+ Men
Same for women but 10 year age groups after 30
19-29,30-39,40-49,50-59,60+
Calf Marking will be in effect on your left calf with category and
age......so when you pass this may help identify people
The Soil is much rockier than the typical Mudslinger soils so no worries on
traction except for one thing.........the marble downhill can be quite fast
and a hard left turn may leave you on your side so checking your speed is a
good thing! We do have a EMT but lets not use her. Also the only Cell phone
coverage is on the ridge at around 1800-2000 ft
*Special Cross specific Situation*....AKA Dismount your bike!
DO to the Bridge on course being unsafe for Pedestrian traffic we will have
a creek crossing with a foot or 2 that will get wet (old school mountain
bike racing) and this crossing will have 2 bails of straw weighing 80 lbs
per to prevent soil mitigation...yes I will be with wheel barrel today
placing those and you need to walk or run this section over 3 logs prior to
the creek and back on course per lap. The bails of Straw will allow you to
cross on the left side of the bails only and this section is only 30-40
yards long. The Bridge will be replaced in August. All must dismount per
the BLM permit for this years event or I will get in trouble....thanks guys!
We will have a few veggie burgers also and Deschutes Beer while supplies
last
Raffle will consist of a Garmin 500 (Thanks to Garmin) and Ergon Product
and a Sweet Hold Up Rack compliments of Yakima.
See ya soon......register
