punctured tubes: anybody recycle them?

I have a friend who accepts flatted tubes and patches them for a 1/2 cut.  ie:  if you give him 4 punctured tubes, he repairs 4 and gives you back two, keeping two for himself.

If that sounds good to you I will put you in touch with him.

When I am working on a bike at the Bicycle Repair Collective at SE 45th and Belmont, tubes and tires get tossed into boxes for recycling. I don't know exactly how they get recycled and if the BRC would welcome people coming in JUST to recycle tubes/tires, but you could check if that location is convenient for you. Uncompensated plug: if you sometimes need instruction and do not own all of the bike tools that you might need for a repair job, that is a great place to work on your bike.

I have a number of 700c tubes that have flatted and not repaired. Does anyone use these for art projects or whatnot? I'm at a point in my life where I don't need to patch them 10 times to save $$, but don't want to throw them away.
If you want them, let me know.
