That sounds cool. Thanks for the info
Dan.

Do you happen to know the range specs? I'm wondering if it's
appropriate for rifles, pistols or both...

They have both paved and gravel options with rides that
traverse Wheatland, Umatilla Forest, Blue Mountains and along
the John Day river.  The roads are so low-traffic it can be hard
for folks from the Willamette Valley to believe.

TREO ranch has catered to bird hunters for the last 20-years
but they have recently opened and re-oriented their hospitality
to cyclists  during the off-hunting season.  There is no hunting
until mid-September but you can still bring your guns and use
the target and sporting clay ranges, if you like.  Or just relax
in the hot tub after a good day of riding and enjoy the starry
skies.

I really think you'll love it.

Thanks for info. Dan.
Hey folks. Even though I grew up in “Eastern” Oregon, I have no interest in guns, but can tell you these areas mentioned are a nice place to be AWAY from the busy-ness of city, suburban or even “Central or Western” Oregon traffic. There just are not very many people living over here so the traffic is LOW!! I cannot speak about TREO or the exact routes (I did not look at links), but I have done self supported tours all around Eastern Oregon (still many places I have not been) and have been constantly astounded how peaceful it is. Mind you the distances are substantial between small towns, hot means “hot”, weather can change fast, water sources are crucial and you can get yourself into a brutal riding day....but hey........you all are tough bike riders and can take those tough days right?
This type of tour might be a nice intro for people who have never toured. You will think the quietest back roads you have ridden between Bend and Newport are busy arterials compared to some of the roads out “East”. It is a long drive, but it also is a way to start changing minds in that part of the state about “cyclists” and moving the economy away from resource extraction. Most of their experiences with bicycle riders are Cycle Oregon and the tourists coming through the “Adventure Cycling” cross country routes....most of the latter go through Baker, John Day, then on to the west toward the coast. There is so much more over there. Touring the back roads over there are a real adventure........and as far as Oregon goes..........there is no place like home. Of course then there is Idaho, Montana and Wyoming............very nice as well.
If you ride over there, just be good ambassadors of two wheeled, human powered travel.
Just my thoughts on bike riding out east.
Crank those chains.
