Chad and I pre-rode the course for the final stage, and it is looking good. There are still two spots of snow on Lake Branch Road, which riders can walk around, but will stop cars. On the Vista Ridge climb, there is one snow drift that riders can walk around, but will again stop cars. These will of course be gone by race day (one way or another)
One thing that did concern us was some names spray painted on the Vista Ridge road. "Go Hans," "Go Steve," "Go Ron," and one other - I was in severe oxygen debt and I can't quite remember. I certainly am not assuming that these were done by OBRA riders, but we have to ask people not to do this. This is the first year for our little race out here in Or-ee-gone, not the Tour de France, and the Forest Service does not smile upon painting their roads. If you have to go Euro-style and write on the road, please use some kind of sidewalk chalk that will wash off.
Oh, and according to my HAC 4 cyclometer, the Vista Ridge climb tops out at a 14% grade in two spots. Ouch.
