Dear OBRA,

My name is Alissa (aka Gator) and I moved to Portland just over two years ago to train on the track with my coach, Brian Abers. Right away I was made to feel like I was at home - accepted by everyone, welcomed into my new track family, and so very well looked after. I absolutely love being part of the Alpenrose Velodrome community!

The move to Portland was necessary for the ultimate goal of my cycling career: to be selected to represent the USA at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janiero as a sprinter on the track. And it has been, by far, the best decision I have made. My power, strength, speed, and tactical bag of tricks have all improved immensely, and this year I am ready to take on the next step of my journey: international racing.

This September there is a UCI race near Montreal, Canada that gives me the opportunity to gain valuable international race experience, as well as accumulate some of the UCI points required by individual riders to be eligible for World Cup and World Championship events. It would mean the world to me to be able to participate in this amazing opportunity and take the next step towards fulfilling my dreams!

Approaching others for help is not my forte, but alas, I am writing to ask for your support in my racing endeavors. I am not able to afford this trip on my own and have set up a 'Go Fund Me' fundraiser account to collect donations for airfare, bike-fare, accommodations and other travel expenses - http://www.gofundme.com/3r4blw - any assistance is greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!!

Speed Safely!
