Hey Guys
I am attempting to get a grasp on awards at MTB events moving into 2014
I think this part is loved by some and a necessary evil for those waiting
for the Raffle......the much coveted Swag fest.
Also with the time between someone finishing at noon waiting until 2 is
tough if you have a 3 hr drive to Bend or Vice versa back to the Valley
We all like to be acknowledged for a job well done and I personally love
Junior Awards the most and overall podiums (top 5 men and women) as these
as an event director seem to have the most crowd applause. Dont get me
wrong all of you are great in placing top 3 and here is the rub.
Races last 3 hrs between on course and with drive time this places awards
at 1:30-2pm if the event starts at 10 and is streamlining the process
something that is needed? These events start at 5am for some riders to get
to an event and if on a Sunday makes getting home a priority or time with
family or whatever.
Correct me if I am wrong
In local CX no awards at each event....to my knowledge....points or series
awards possibly
In running events no awards in most cases except Elite payout events
In Road sometimes or pick up your prize and cash and leave
National events yes for cycling
*Question*
*Would reducing the podiums to 1st place only per category and top 5
overall not hurt anyone's feelings for MTB with the Juniors being
recognized top 3 for those events having a podium presentation?*
Will be composing a survey to send out and thanks for listening and I hope
you are getting fit for Cross
Santa Cross 12/7/13
