Thanks Sarah. That's about what bikeflights charges. I am into it either
way. shipbikes and bikeflights charge about half the regular fedEx rate.

Thanks Shane. This isn't for travel. I just want to find cheaper shipping
for eBay sales so my bikes are more attractive for buyers. Many who haven't
dealt with bike shipping before goff at the $150-175 price for shipping.
Rightfully so.

I have not used bikeflights.com

I have used shipbikes.com. I used them to ship a bike to/from Saratoga
Springs, NY for a bike tour. They use fedex, so you can ship to any city
with a fedex/kinkos office. Most of the time, the fedex/kinkos office can
hold the bike for a week. I used my own bike box (Trico Ironcase) and it
cost ~$75 each way.

I haven't tried bikeflights.com myself, but I did just recently take a bike
down on the airlines from PDX to SJC. It's the first time I've flown with
a bike that he airline didn't make me feel like a criminal for wanting to
bring a bike.

Southwest rates are flat rate based on size/weight, and not contents like
most airlines nab you for. I paid $75 to fly the bike down with me in a
card board box - total dimensions were 92 inches and 34 pounds.

I'll definitely check out bikeflights.com in the future though ... :)

I'd love to hear as well. Sounds like a good idea to make getting through
the airport easier...
