Promoters make deadline decisions based upon their unique understanding

of personnel resources and logistics consideration to produce the best

cycling event possible for all competitors. Riders need to make similar

decisions about their preparation for each race they choose to enter;

including, registration deadlines, gear selection, transportation,

meals, lodging etc. It's always amusing to see posts from riders

looking for rides the day before an "out-of-the-area" event, but it's

really an indication that riders need to plan ahead for optimal success.

OBRA mountain bikers:



An observation from a race promoter. If you can observe the date that pre-registration is to be received by you will make YOUR life and the PROMOTER's much easier. Case in point: Coast Hills Classic flyer and website CLEARLY stated Registration must be RECIEVED (NOT postmarked) by May 12. There was good reason for this...just one being school closed Friday and Saturday and so no mail! Lots of other race prep to do being another! I had no less than FOUR pre-registrations (all postmarked 5/14) waiting in my box at work Monday Morning after the Sunday event. Just not cool to do to people who put on the race. Not really honest, either, when you consider the late fee thing.



It was a hassle for riders saying they pre-registered, staff trying to find their paperwork, the riders re-doing it, and then me sorting it all out afterwards (tear up checks, who really did pre-reg, etc.). The whole point of pre-registration is to do it in advance and reduce length and time of race-day lines. When you disregard our cut-off dates, you also slow down your fellow competitors who are trying to be honest and register day of. Help us out, riders!



Regarding Nelson Snyder...he told my student volunteers he had pre-registered, they believed him (hadn't consulted me), took no money, and let him race on his good word. No pre-reg of any form was recieved from Mr. Snyder at any time. Nelson or those who know Nelson could you please get in contact with me ASAP, so you can do the right thing as this is NOT COOL. Our event is a fundraiser for student scholarships! Hopefully, it is some sort of honest mistake or mail snafu and you will take care of it asap so I don't have to take it to the next level.
