Blind Date Registration update- again ;-)

I have purchased a 1400 lumen lighting systen with a pivoting helmet mount
to intentionally blind the leaders. That is my strategy.

I prefer no lights. It doesn't mess with your eyes as much and you are
better able to look though the dark corners. I would only consider using
lights if they were the fancy high power mtn bike setups, but even then,
there efficacy is limited because they need to be pointed down. You'd
ideally be going too fast for that anyway....

Besides, there isn't really any mystery after the first lap anyway.

There is nothing quite like bombing into a bumpy and rutted corner, guided
only by the light of a nativity scene, when the generator runs out of gas.

I would go lightless, at least once.

- lights + dust = better off without
- lights point down, not into the eyes of your brothers and sisters
- no helmet lights

You can totally race without a light, depending on your tolerance for ambiguity.

For those of you “light limited”, but beginner friendly..........you can for sure get the first and maybe the C race in before the Mr. Darkness plays with your vision. Lights really do help (especially an old man like me) in places in the later races, but T, J, and Crew do a good job of getting some light out in the “ more interesting” segments of the course.
Although I usually suffer a great deal I have to say this IS THE MOST UNIQUE CROSS RACE SERIES probably in our nation!
Since I am a racer who only tries to ride twice a week (note I do not say train) plus race, the only thing that might make it more interesting would be if Alpenrose decided to get a brewers licence and sell micro brews (recovery beverage on par with choc. milk)..........but in all honesty that would not be very good for the neighbors as we would get a bit louder. Now, as it is, we have such a sweet, busy but pretty quiet and courteous group of racers working hard and having fun on Wednesday night.
If you have not given it a try, well hell people....it is a blind date. Give it a go! She/He might be a perfect match for U. Life is short. If bike racing is a part (big or small) of your life, come out and find out how it tastes at the Dairy at Night. Kind of like a drive in movie for cross racers.
