A standard homeowners policy/rental policy will cover your bikes but they usually have a sublimit which is fairly low and are subject to the same deductible you have on the policy. The issue is that the insurance coverage will only apply based on covered perils (fire, etc) of your standard policy.
If you have an expensive bike(s) ask your agent to schedule the bike(s). Not all insurers will do this but those who do will do so for a low cost. Scheduling your bike typically means no deductible and broader coverage than the standard perils provided under your homeowners policy. It also typically provides worldwide coverage.
