I remember one year, in a haze of heat and fatigue, I had to choose between hitting a downed rider and haybale (corner #2), and as I flew over the latter, actually thinking "Oh, good, I get to (honorably?) quit now!" I see the race as, yes, a crash now and then (but certainly not a "crash-fest"), but also very much a test of stamina, and... a load of fun!
Thanks, Steve, for creating this great race! You are to be commended for the idea, sticking with it for 15 years, and really making it an event "for the riders" (part of this has been a modestly low entry fee).
I hope someone will step forward to promote and keep this classic tight little criterium course on our schedule...
